About the Event
Contemporary feminism is at a crossroads. In recent decades, two distinct camps have emerged within the feminist movement -- so-called radical feminists and trans-inclusive feminists -- and engaged in a bitter struggle over the central question: what does it mean to be a woman? In the face of this conflict, Prof. Abigail Favale argued that only through a return to realism, and a rejection of nominalism, can feminism survive. If the feminist movement hopes to endure, and champion the rights and dignity of women worldwide, it must grasp that feminism's very existence depends on a realist grounding of the concept of "woman."
