Renewing the Humanities in Silicon Valley

The Zephyr Institute seeks an outstanding scholar as a Zephyr Senior Fellow and Director of Academic Programs. The position can be full or part time, with highly competitive salary and benefits, and additional funds for programs, travel and research. The term of the appointment is 3 years and may be renewed. The position is located in Palo Alto, CA.

The Zephyr Institute provides a place where the young people of Stanford and Silicon Valley engage in free exchange and substantive dialogue on issues that intersect philosophy and emerging trends, in order to become good and wise persons who can guide a flourishing society.

The Senior Fellow is expected to carry on academic work and coordinate reading groups, lectures and other scholarly events for students and community members, and contribute to the intellectual life of the Zephyr Institute. 

Successful applicants will have a proven record of scholarly excellence, an ability to mentor college students in the development of intellectual and moral virtues, and clear potential for further development. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree in the humanities, including but not limited to philosophy, political science, literature, and history, or expect to complete that degree by September 1st, 2023. The position is local (must live in Palo Alto) and the start date is in the summer of 2023.
