Zephyr Philosophy Club Registration

About the Club

 

The Zephyr Philosophy Club is a monthly gathering of high school students interested in philosophy. Past topics have included ethics, epistemology, existentialism, moral relativism, pragmatism and moral realism, drawing on short readings from philosophers including Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Kant, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and William James. Club members select the topics and suggest readings.

 

Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month during the school year from September to November then January to May from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 

 

Please note: Dates listed on the website are subject to change. Additional sessions may be added or canceled based on club interest. Once accepted, members will receive the finalized schedule from Zephyr.

 

Exact location in Atherton, CA will be sent to accepted members. Carpools encouraged.

About Dr. Landon Hobbs

 

Dr. Landon Hobbs is Research Fellow and Director of Academic Programs at the Zephyr Institute. His research focuses on Ancient Greek philosophy, especially the theoretical philosophy of Aristotle. He received his PhD from Stanford University in 2023 and is currently pursuing a research project on the content, justification, and use of the ancient metaphysical principle that the cause must precontain its effect.
